Who We Are
We are a church located in Providence, Florida.
We are a reformed Southern Baptist church in one of the oldest continuously settled areas of rural north Florida. Under the pastoral leadership of Dr. Dax Summerhill, we seek to promote an expositional ministry of God's word that emphasizes the glory of the Triune God, the depravity of man, the substitutionary work of Christ, and the sovereign and transforming grace of the biblical gospel. We are only 3 miles off of I-75 between Lake City and Gainesville, FL. Take exit #414 east and then your first right on Hwy 238. We are a couple of miles down on the right.
Dax Summerhill
Pastor Dax Summerhill is the husband to Laurie and the father to four children: Joshua, Myrick, Sarah Jane, and Kate. He is a native of Mississippi and received his education at Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. In December 2009, He earned a Ph. D. in Theology from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary. Besides reading theology and spending time with his family, Pastor Dax enjoys spending time outdoors watching football, playing golf, hunting, and fishing. He has served in full-time Christian ministry since 2003, having previously served two churches in Mississippi as pastor. Pastor Dax has been at PVBC since January 2011.
