The Bond Of Love
The love here spoken of is divine love. It is the bond that holds all the other fruits of the Spirit together. As we are reminded in 1 Corinthians 13, without divine love, irrespective of whatever other gifts we have, or whatever else we do, without divine love it profits nothing. However,we need to be careful how we apply this. We must always remember that the epistles are written to the Church for the Church. We are not to take the children's bread and cast it to the dogs. In these days the tendency is, when preaching the Gospel, is to begin by telling the sinner God loves them and omits the preaching of the Law, which is the schoolmaster that leads us to Christ. This leads to spurious converts who have never repented of their sin because they have not been made aware of that sin is and the necessity of repentance. It is my firm belief that this presentation of the Gospel is filling the churches with tares.
