I know Not The Lord.
Pharaoh's declaration that, "I know not the Lord," was perfectly tur. The Lord God of Israel was unknown to the Egyptians. It has to be said that the same is true about many professing Christians today. They have a faulty understanding of what He is but also of knowing Him as only those who are truly born of the Holy Spirit have experienced Him in their lives.
There is a serious error being taught in Evangelical circles, namely, that God chose people that He foresaw would accept the Gospel. This belief is, in effect, a works salvation. Of Israel of old God said, "You only have I known..." If that known was only foreknowledge, that is knowing what they would do and be, that would make no sense. It would mean he had no knowledge of the other nations. But, God makes it very plain that it was not for any unforeseen goodness in them for he declared them to be a "Stiff necked " people. Yes, God foreknows His people as His people because they were foreordained to be so from all eternity.
