Family Worship Guide:
Memory Verses: 1 John 1:9
Day 1: Read Luke 11:39, Mark 7:8-13 and discuss: How do the rules in addition to God's Word change our proximity to God? Does it fence us in or keep us away? Why would keeping a standard inferior to God's standards make us feel successful? Who is glorified by keeping these other standards?
Day 2: Read Luke 11:40, 1 Sam 16:7; Pro 25:4; and 2 Tim 2:20 and discuss: What part of our lives do we constantly seek to have hidden? Why would it be natural to promote how we are perceived by others rather than who we really are? What does God look at primarily? How can we be vessels that are fit for use for God?
Day 3: Read Psalm 51 and 1John 1:9 and discuss: According to Ps 51:6 why would God want wisdom to benefit the inside? What is the only means of purifying a corrupt heart? If we are unable to fix our hearts, how does confession enable God to do so?
