Day 1: Read Luke 9:23-27 & discuss: Recall the way you viewed certain things about God/Jesus/the Bible, etc., when you were younger. What beliefs did you used to have? How did those beliefs develop and/or change? Which particular paradox(es) are the most difficult for you to consistently believe and live-out? Which one(s) is easier?
Day 2: Read Luke 9:23-27 & discuss: What does it mean to "lose your life"? … "to save your life"? Why do motivations matter in answering the two previous questions? How can you honestly and soberly examine your motivations?
Day 3: Read Luke 9:23-27 & discuss: List out the "religious activities" that make up your days and weeks. Prayerfully examine your motivations regarding each one. Which activities need to be abandoned altogether? Which ones need a "restart" so that the can be done for Jesus' sake? Which activities need to be started?
