Introduction
I. For Encouragement
They will make war on the Lamb, and the Lamb will conquer them, for he is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those with him are called and chosen and faithful. Rev. 17:14
Revelation is addressed to a church that is under attack. Its purpose, to ‘reveal things which soon take place' is not to satisfy idle curiosity about end-times or feed hunger for revenge but to fortify Jesus' followers in steadfast hope and holy living. It calls us to maintain purity in alert expectation of Christ's return. —Dennis E Johnson
II. For Exhortation (1:12-16)
III. For Evangelism
The revelation of Jesus Christ … … 5 and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood 6 and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. Rev. 1a, 5-6
