Apart from Pharaoh, one of the greatest dangers that the Israelites experienced was that they might become like the Egyptians. The Egyptians were pretty comfortable in their land.
The Egyptians could farm their land with relative ease.
Their land was watered by the mighty Nile River and it was extremely fertile and fruitful. The Egyptians used light ploughs that could be operated with one hand. Farming in Egypt was a lot easier than other countries.
Life in Egyptian could easily become self indulgent.
A vast array of food was available to eat in Egypt. They had all kinds of vegetables available, the Nile teemed with fish and the banks of the Nile were inhabited with numerous birds.
As an Egyptian in Egypt you could eat, drink and be merry and there was a danger in this way of life for the Israelite's.
When the Israelite's got set free from Egypt and complained on their wilderness journey they looked back to the delights of Egypt. (Numbers 11.5)
I think if Pharaoh Hadn't persecuted Israel then there would have been the Temptation for the Israelite's to stay in Egyptian society rather than move on to the Promised Land.
The other danger for Israel was that they began to worship Egypt's Idols.
Prosperity and Idolatry were two dangers for the Nation of Israel.
God had the Israelite s living in Egypt… but they were not to become like Egypt.
You know here in Australia we have the same dangers as well PROSPERITY and IDOLATRY.
We are a Prosperous country. It is a temptation in Australia for many to Eat, Drink and be Merry.
The other Temptation is to get involved in the Idolatries of our Nation.
Those Temptations can easily affect the Christian.
