Barnabas was a Spirit filled Godly man.
Acts 11:24 For he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith…
The first time we meet Barnabas in the Bible is in Acts 4.
Acts 4:36 And Joses, who was also named Barnabas by the apostles (which is translated Son of Encouragement), a Levite of the country of Cyprus,
Barnabas’s real name was Joses.
The apostles recognized that this man had such a ministry of encouragement that they nicknamed him Barnabas which means Son of Encouragement.
What a blessing a ministry of encouragement is.
Not only was he known for his encouragement, Barnabas was known for his generosity.
In the days of the early Church there was no government welfare program like we have today. Barnabas sold land that he had in order to meet the physical needs of others.
In my own ministry I have received the ministry of Barnabas’s.
Not only did he bring him to the Apostles but Barnabas testified for Paul Acts 9.27. He was willing to speak on Paul’s behalf.
Where the Apostles saw problems Barnabas saw Potential.
Barnabas was willing to give Saul a go.
Barnabas not only stood up for Saul he stood up for others as well like John Mark.
Acts 11:24 For he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith…
