Jesus delivered seven parables on one day, all recorded in Matthew 13. They describe the age in which we now live. He illustrated many things about this era from heaven's perspective, and they help us understand the war being waged against us.
Jesus used many more illustrations, but at least one theme is constant through all of them: There will be a struggle between good and evil and the evil will be deceptive, hard to detect, and difficult to counteract.
This section of God's word has been seriously abused in our generation in the theological minefield called Spiritual Warfare. We are indeed involved in warfare. But we need to understand this warfare from the Scriptures, which contain all we need to know, just as God wanted us to know it. We need to be discerning, calm and wise to sift out the extra-biblical things we are being told these days–and there is plenty of it.
