We can trust that Jesus is the Messiah, the High Priest that God promised has come. He is not the average ordinary priest. He is the Son of God, who put on flesh and became the forever perfectly fitted priest to bring us into the presence of God.
As a sinner, who do you want to represent you to the perfectly holy and just God?
Jews were debating if they should look to the Levitical Priest or Jesus the High Priest to represent them to God. However, most people today believe that they have no need for a priest, but will do just fine on their own. This happens when you have a low view of God's holiness and a high view of your own holiness.
For that person, look in the mirror. Are you holy? Are you innocent? Are you unstained by sin? Are you separate from sinners? Have you been exalted above the heavens by God? Do you have the perfect sacrifice to offer? And of course, the answer is, "No" to all of these questions.
All humanity is divided between those who have had their sins removed by the perfect Priestly work of Jesus Christ the Son of God, and those who will die with their sins. If you are a believer, I pray that your trust in your High Priest has been increased as we have looked at these passages. If your faith is in anything, anyone, or even yourself I hope you realize the utter unfitness of your plan of salvation. Trust in God today, and trust in His High Priest.
