First of a 2 part message on Immorality-not an easy subject to address, but necessary, especially in these times.Medicine may not be tasteful, but it is beneficial.
- THE PURVEYORS OF IMMORALITY
a)THE STRANGE WOMAN
i)Her Appearance (v10)-vulgar-seductive-immodest- remember we are marked by our dress
ii)Her Aim-out to seduce the young man and gratify her lusts
iii)Her Activity - (v11)- not at rest - out after "business"
iv)Her Announcement (v14) -"this day have i paid my vows" -she had "got a bit of religion" -like Tetzel in the days of Luther, who sold pardon for sins before you commit them
v) Her Allurements-her bed-its appearance and fragrance - the fact that the "goodman" was away
b) THE SIMPLE YOUTH
i) The Location He Ought To Have Avoided
- v8 "he went the way to her house"
Pornography on the internet, certain TV shows, some magazines and books-must be avoided at all costs
ii) The Temptation He Ought To Have Refused
He should have said no - the temptation may be hard but we have Joseph as a good example. Christians also have verses such as 1st Cor 10:13 and the fact that the Saviour quoted Scripture 3 times in response to the devil`s temptations-we must flee temptation and fill our minds with God's Word
iii) The Submission He Ought To Have Resisted
v 21 "she caused him to yield" -he was entering upon a life of ruin
Beware of advertising, low standards of TV entertainment- be strong, firm, say no-the alternative ?life of ruin
