Christ Centered Sermon! Refreshing for the soul. This is the third sermon I have heard in this series. I look forward to hear the other messages from this series. May God bless you and use you abundantly for his purpose and glory
Good Stuff Thanks for that. Much more of the earth perspective in your message than I am used to reading into it. I think I have a better overall understanding now. Got chills toward the end about "Seeing HIM".
EXCELLENT SERMON! Dr. Beeke reminds me of a modern day Puritan! His doctrine is flat-out phenomenal and practically he gets extremely detailed and specific. In this series he teaches how we raise our children, and might I add he does it very biblically and wisely.
Great Sermon! Excellent sermon!
A very encouraging sermon and greatly appreciated.
Thanks Dr Beeke, and may the Lord bless and greatly encourage you also.
Great Sermon! GREAT Sermon!
Joel Beeke: Matthew was written for Jews and because they take pride in genealogies, Matthew traced Jesus' genealogy through: David and Abraham. Notice, Luke traces his genealogy all the way back to Adam because Luke was written for gentiles and they don't care about David and Abraham but they care more about Adam.
Jesus' genealogy had bad men too. The Jews wanted a clean genealogy that they could be proud of, like Abraham and David. But Jesus had Tamar, Rahab, Basheba, Ruth, (4 great women sinners) and Joram and Manessa also great sinners. Notice Matthew does not mention the women the Jews held in esteem: Sarah or Hannah. Judah committed incest w Tamar. Ruth from lot w his daughters. Great sinners.
Jesus shall save his people from their sins. Jehovah saves. Jehovah is salvation. He does it all. Don't try to bring something. Come as a poor needy bankrupt sinner. You say, I need repentance and to break from my sinful past before I can go to Jesus. Well, is that true? No. Breaking from our sinful past is the result of faith. It's the result of coming to Jesus. I can't break and bury my sins before I come to Jesus or I would have no need for Jesus. I come saying "I am full of wickedness and can't change, so save me or I'll perish."
Great Sermon!

Right Message! Wrong Title. This sermon has been very helpful to me and very timely for my present spiritual condition. It is about how God ministers to His depressed servants, taken from the story of Elijah. It is not about McCheyne. Please change the title. Thank you pastor for this comforting sermon.
Scriptural and tactful This class was well done. Dr. Beeke does a wonderful job addressing the highest calling of marriage--lovemaking. He gives many guidelines for married couples that are intended to help them be moderate in lovemaking--in that they should not completely abstain from each other (except for a short time for fasting and prayer), nor be excessive or sinfully over-passionate.
I highly recommend this class.
Incredible sermon! I was richly blessed by this bold, crystal clear sermon. We choose the straight and narrow way that leads to life eternal (Jesus Christ) or we chose the broad way of the world that leads to destruction...those are our only two choices. There are no other mythical choices...as so many believe.
Great Sermon! Thank you for a very fine Christmas Day message! What a verbal picture: The angel tells the shepherds to go visit the infant , who is the very Lamb of God. Luke chapter 2:8-20 is rich and wonderful!
Great Sermon! The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom - Psalm 111:10. Since it is the "beginning" is it not appropriate for terrible sinners like those in Nineveh? Those who are taking their first steps of repentance. They have not yet heard of Christ's love. If they heard of it, they still were not at the stage they KNEW it as their own possession. Adam and Eve hide from God, because they knew they had sinned. Sinners should be afraid of a Holy and righteous God. Does Scripture speak specifically about a child-like vs. a slavish fear? Is not the difference just that God gives grace to some? That grace sanctifies the fear of the saints. Is not that fear similar to the "mourning" Christ speaks of in Matthew 5, that is blessed? One day there will be no more "mourning" or fear - Revelation 21:4-5 Yet both have their place in the hear and now. The Problem of the sinners in Proverbs 1 and in Noah's day was their "fear of God" was too late! They did not fear preaching or wisdom crying in the street. They were not like the Ninevites who feared from the start, from as you said "the first sermon." No they heard again and again, and the very preaching they may have "feared" a bit at first, no longer impacted their hardened hearts. They learned how not to fear, without repentance.
