This Chapter in the Book of Deuteronomy has the subheading (in the NKJV): The Covenant Renewal in Moab.
It is an interesting chapter as it reminds the Israelites that they do not have what they need to continue as God's Covenant people. Thus far God has not provided them when regenerate hearts.
He then urges them to be those who hear, believe and obey His Words. He warns them against presumption... to think all is well when they are living in sin and worshipping false gods.
The chapter pretty well foretells the demise of the covenant people. However, it concludes with a word and promise of hope. These foretold events are hard to grasp, but the chapter concludes with a verse that should be remembered by all.
"The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law."
