At the close of each year God's people should pause to carefully reflect upon the events of Providence which have already come to pass so as to learn and be strengthened by those particular events.
While reflecting upon the past, they are to look forward to the future in faith and hope, trusting that the Lord would use them more and more in the advancement of His work on Earth.
However all too often the people of God forget the past, whether it is the recent past or the ancient past, the tendency is to put away those events and lessons from past circumstances and situations.
This forgetfulness- especially in the light of the history of God's advancing Kingdom can be very damaging to the work of the saints in the present age. It is through the work of God throughout the past, and our reflection upon it, that prepares us in this present, for the great work of God for the future.
